The popular tourist route of the R62 runs through the Western Cape and Eastern Cape, we explore a section on day three and four from Barrydale to Robertson winelands regions.


Theewaterskloof Dam is the largest dam in the Western Cape and was built in the 1970's. It served to improve the collection of a number of east-flowing rivers

The route from Karoo Saloon is all Tar through Montagu, Robertson
and down to McGregor where we meet the gravel roads out of town
to Stormsvlei and back onto the N2. A short section of tar takes us back onto gravel throught Greyton and Theewaterskloof Dam, Van der Stels Pass and back down Sir Lowries Pass.
