We leave the Lord Charles early
morning and follow the main road through Somerset West.
We pass through Sir Lowry's Pass Village township and
up over Sir Lowry's Pass to the view point. Traveling
through the Winelands of Grabouw, we take a short cut
onto gravel to get you orientated with the aspect of off
road riding through the Grabouw forest Highlands trail
and via the back mountain gravel roads on to Hermanus
for breakfast.
The Adventure starts after breakfast
as we head into the mountains behind Hermanus - Hemel
en Aarde (Heaven and Earth) and across the picturesque
Overberg farming region via gravel roads through the small
settlement of Elim and to Struis Baai. Its a tradition
to stop for a brief photo session at L'Agulhas - the Southern
most Point of the African Continent.

Our final leg for the first day takes us a further 95km
through Bredasdorp, back onto the gravel roads to The
magical De Hoop Nature Reserve where the campsite will
be ready and waiting with Champagne sundowners. |
After Sir Lowry's Pass the route from Grabouw is predominately
gravel with a 20% mix of tar roads. The dirt roads
are easy going hard pack gravel and any skill level
of rider will enjoy the adventure route.
