The Cost of Owning a Motorcycle vs Renting, when you wanna ride?

We all want to own our own Adventure Motorcycle and have the freedom to hit the road every weekend. In the real world the costs can be somewhat astronomical and free time can be divided between work responsibilities and family leisure. Motorcycle riding is often pushed aside, and on average we are lucky if we can ride 2 weekends a month. The costs below are based on the purchase of a new motorcycle in the 650cc to 800cc range, of course there are cheaper options, but why settle for less, everyone wants a comfortable and powerful bike for those long adventurous trips. The option of renting a fully equipped top of the range Adventure motorcycle - is usually what we expect foreigners to do when visiting South Africa.........think again. If you know you will never get the opportunities to ride EVERY weekend then you may be wasting your money forking out over R45 000 per year for a bike that gathers dust in the garage.
